Getting to know Laura Jansone, the LET’s first member from Latvia who tied for 25th at Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2013.1. How did you start to play golf? My dad took me and my brothers to a junior clinic when I was 10. I played tennis before that and we could pick a sport to play and then I had back problems so I switched sport , which I don’t think it’s better…but I just made friends in that Junior Clinic and got to continue playing. 2. Tell us about golf in Latvia… In Latvia there are now two 18-hole and one 9 –hole courses. And not many people play golf there. When I started there were just one 9-hole course total and my dad picked it up on some business trip. At current time golf is getting a little bit more popular and I am the only female professional golfer in the country. Making history!! 3. Tell me something most people don’t know about you? I can paint pretty well. 4. What would you like to do for a living if you are not a pro golfer? I studied “Interior Design”, so I would probably do something that had to do with this. 5. Education? Which University and degree? I graduated in University of Tennessee and majored in Interior Design. 6. How many and which languages do you speak? Latvian and English. I had to take Russian at school but I am not good. 7. How do you practice there in Latvia? Well, I live in the US, because I play on the Symetra Tour there. The weather in Latvia is too cold. Now I will be going after this tournament and it’s around -7 Celsius Degrees. During the summer I live in Tennessee, where I went to University and during the winter I live in Florida. 8.
